ISLANDIA, N.Y. and ZURICH-KLOTEN, Switzerland, Jan. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA) today announced that Novatrend, a Swiss managed service provider (MSP), has chosen the CA AppLogic® turnkey cloud computing platform to launch a new set of cloud services.

Scalability and cost of infrastructure directly affect an organization's gross margin and ability to grow. The CA AppLogic platform provides a cost-effective, scalable path for rapid cloud delivery by enabling customers to design, test and deploy complex cloud solutions for end users in less time than build-from-scratch cloud solutions.

In September 2011, Novatrend launched "Novacloud," a scalable, cloud-hosting service based on the CA AppLogic platform, which enables users to quickly and easily design and deliver virtual business services in a matter of hours instead of days or months. The platform gives Novatrend customers constant access to a portal where, with a click of the mouse, they can adjust resources and capacity to meet their business needs. With Novacloud, users only pay for the capacity that they use.

Michael Brunner, co-founder and chief technology officer of Novatrend, commented, "Many providers' cloud offerings don't correspond to what we think of as the cloud. Capacity is usually determined and limited by the performance and availability of a dedicated server located somewhere in the cloud. This can result in extremely slow response times and loss of business during peak hours. We think the cloud should enable users to draw on the capacity that they actually require – less during quiet periods and more at peak times. With regard to costs, it doesn't make sense if a website operator is forced to gauge its IT capacity by usually brief periods of extremely high demand. Customers should have control over on-demand performance based on a transparent and fair cost model. The CA AppLogic platform provides faster provisioning of applications, which allows us to more rapidly deliver services, while minimizing our go-to-market costs."

"The economies of scale created by implementing the CA AppLogic platform are enormous – for both enterprises and MSPs. Novatrend's customers should benefit from the platform's high performance, reliability, and scalability," said Manfred Eierle, vice president, Area Sales for Switzerland, CA Technologies. "Novatrend will gain a competitive advantage from its ability to offer cost-effective cloud services in Switzerland."
