Engineered Support UPSI Subsidiary Earns $3 Million Award for Power, HVAC, & Fire Suppression for Joint Reserve Intel Units

ST. LOUIS, Oct. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Engineered Support
Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:EASI) wholly-owned subsidiary Universal Power
Systems, Inc. (UPSI) in Chantilly, Virginia was awarded a $2.96
million contract to upgrade Heating, Ventilation, and Air
Conditioning (HVAC) as well as power and fire suppression systems
for Joint Reserve Intelligence Units at 20 different Army, Air
Force, Navy, and Marine Corps sites in the continental U.S.
(CONUS). The firm fixed price contract is projected to be completed
by September 2006, and includes an additional $1.18 million in
unfunded options. The project supports Defense Intelligence Agency
efforts to upgrade secure IT networks and infrastructure for Joint
Reserve Intelligence Centers (JRICs) in support of the ongoing
Global War on Terror. The initiative, established in 1995, provides
automated systems, communications infrastructure and technical
support to more than 20 JRICs located throughout CONUS. Using
electronic connectivity provided by the secure communications
systems, the Joint Intelligence Centers, Combat Support Agencies,
and Service National Intelligence Centers can task and manage the
production activities of Reservists located at these sites. "This

supplies where required, adding backup generator sets with
automatic transfer capability to provide 24/7 emergency power, and
will install additional lighting circuits and outlets. The company
will also update existing commercial HVAC equipment or provide
additional commercial equipment to supplement the existing cooling
system. FM200 fire suppression systems will be installed as well,
to replace existing water sprinkler or Halon systems. Engineered
