OSLO, NORWAY Network Norway AS and Telenor Mobil AS have entered
into a roaming agreement for Norway. Under this agreement Network
Norway will lease capacity in Telenor's mobile network outside the
areas the company has built its own.
The agreement involves Network Norway users being able to roam
in Telenor's GSM network (2G), the more advanced UMTS network (3G)
and the new mobile broadband network (HSPA). Network Norway has
400-450,000 mobile customers in Norway. Based on the current
customer base and calling patterns, the agreement is estimated to
be worth NOK 650-700 million in the first twelve months. The
agreement will be fully effectuated from autumn this year.
"We are extremely pleased Network Norway has chosen to sign an
agreement with Telenor. Our mobile network offers high quality and
good coverage, and we are convinced the company and its customers
will be satisfied," says Ragnar Krhus, head of Telenor in Norway,
and continues: "There is also no denying that the size of the
agreement is extremely positive for Telenor."
"The agreement means we can give our customers access to mobile
broadband solutions and that we will use Telenor's network where we
do not have coverage ourselves," says Ingvild Myhre, CEO of Network
Norway.
