A Northrop Grumman Corp. (NOC) subsidiary was awarded a contract from the U.S. Missile Defense Agency to provide and maintain subscale targets.

Orbital Sciences Corp. was awarded the $1.12 billion contract and will provide "threat-representative subscale targets with simple and complex re-entry vehicles as well as storage, surveillance, maintenance of delivered hardware and software, and range execution of end items," the Pentagon said.

Orbital Sciences was one of two bidders on the contract.

The work will be performed between September 2019 and September 2027 in Chandler, Ariz., the Pentagon said.
