Porsche Cars North America, Inc. on Friday announced that owners of the first all-electric Porsche, the Taycan, will be given three years of free charging at Electrify America public stations.

Electrify America, a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, runs a network of charging stations, similar to gas stations, for electric vehicles.

Taycan buyers will receive three years of unlimited 30-minute charging at Electrify America locations, comprised of more than 300 highway stations in 42 states and more than 180 sites in 17 metro areas, the company said.

The company also said Porsche dealers in the U.S. will install their own fast-charge kiosks. Porsche will also offer home charging technology, the company said.

On Friday, Volkswagen's Porsche said more than 20,000 people already have registered as prospective buyers of the Taycan, paying EUR2,500 to reserve a spot on the list prior to the vehicle's debut in September.

As a result, Porsche said, the company will increase production capacity for the vehicle.
