PR Newswire (US)
HOUSTON, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BMC Software (BMC: NYSE)
has been ranked as one of the top three share-gainers in the
software and security category by Goldman Sachs. The investment
bank's latest IT Spending Survey(1) of Fortune 1000 IT executives
also notes a continued strengthening in customer perception of and
preference for BMC. "We believe that BMC's continued rise as a
share-gainer in the Goldman Sachs report reflects the strong
interest in and demand for our Business Service Management
solutions," said Steve Solcher, senior vice president and chief
financial officer. "This response from the IT community validates
our approach and is consistent with the feedback we've received
from customers and prospects alike." BMC partners, customers and
industry analysts agree BSM is essential for managing IT from a
business perspective. This is reflected in the continued
strengthening of customer perception of BMC as evidenced in the
Goldman Sachs survey results. Wipro Technologies, a global services
provider that delivers technology- business solutions, has
standardized on BMC Software's BSM offerings. "There is a
substantial need in making sure IT is in lock-step with
businesses," said Pravin Jain, vice president of BSM Solutions,
Wipro Technologies. "Wipro shares BMC's vision of BSM. BMC's
integrated solutions enable us to help our customers quickly
realize the benefits of BSM. We have standardized our BSM practice
on BMC's solutions and continue to drive value for our customers by
aligning IT with business priorities." BMC's BSM solutions combine
proven software and processes to enable companies to manage their
IT assets, processes and functions from a shared view of how IT
resources directly support the business. Customers currently
deploying BSM are able to run IT like a business, leveraging its
power to increase revenue and cut costs. Forrester Research
underscored its importance noting, "By hitting all the stepping
stones toward BSM, companies can save as much as a third of their
IT operations budget. An estimated 76 percent of the IT budget goes
to operations, so firms that implement BSM can potentially save 25
percent of their overall IT budget."(2) About BMC Software BMC
