                     Appointment of Group Finance Director

European Home Retail plc ("EHR") is pleased to announce the appointment of
Stevan Fowler as Group Finance Director and Company Secretary with effect from
1st January, 2006

Stevan, aged 47, was Group Finance Director of Yates Group plc and before that
Group Finance Director of Yorkshire Group Plc and Group Director of Corporate
Development and Planning at Kalon Group PLC.

Sir Clive Thompson, Chairman, said: "We are very pleased that Stevan has joined
us as Group Finance Director. He has a lot of relevant experience which will
help us achieve our targets for this year and beyond. We all very much look
forward to working with him."

The Group confirms that there are no further matters to be disclosed pursuant 
to paragraph 9.6.11 to 9.6.14 of the Listing Rules.
