PR Newswire (US)
ISLANDIA, N.Y., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CA, Inc. today
announced that CA Access Control r12 SP1 has earned Common Criteria
Evaluation Assurance Level 3+, augmented by ALC FLR.1 and ASE
TSS.2. The evaluation was carried out in accordance with the
National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) Common Criteria
Evaluation and Validation Scheme. Common Criteria is an
internationally recognized independent security certification
recognized by governments in more than 26 countries, including the
United States. Certification is granted when a Common Criteria
testing laboratory determines that a product meets a defined
measure of security. The certification addresses product
functionality, development environment, documentation and product
testing measures. "Obtaining Common Criteria validation gives our
global public sector and enterprise customers the confidence that
CA Access Control can help them meet their security needs for
protecting various operating systems -- including all of the common
virtualization servers (hypervisors) -- and controlling privileged
user access to help protect against internal threats," said Dave
Hansen, corporate senior vice president and general manager of CA's
Security and Compliance business unit. CA Access Control provides a
comprehensive solution for host access control, virtualization
security, and privileged user management. It protects critical
servers, hypervisors, applications, and devices across multiple
platforms and operating systems by controlling access and providing
secure audits and reports. CA Access Control also helps meet
regulatory compliance demands by applying password management and
other policies that define and control privileged user access to
system resources while tracking their activity. The CA Access
Control evaluation was performed on a UNIX ® platform by Booz
Allen Hamilton's Common Criteria Testing Laboratory (CCTL). The
Booz Allen Hamilton lab is one of only nine U.S.-based CCTLs
approved by NIAP and meets the Common Criteria Evaluation and
Validation Scheme. The Booz Allen CCTL conducts IT security
evaluations for conformance to the Common Criteria for Information
Technology Security Evaluation, International Standard ISO/IEC
15408:1999. CA SiteMinder was recently evaluated under the Common
Criteria. Additional CA security products currently in evaluation
include CA Identity Manager, CA Enterprise Log Manager, CA
Federation Manager, and CA ACF2(TM) r14, CA Top Secret ® r14
and CA Compliance Manager for z/OS r1. About Common Criteria The
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the
National Security Agency (NSA) established the National Information
Assurance Partnership (NIAP) to evaluate IT product conformance to
the Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation,
an international standard. The program, officially known as the
NIAP Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme (CCEVS) is a
partnership between the public and private sectors to help
organizations select commercial off-the-shelf information
technology (IT) products that meet their security requirements and
to help manufacturers of those products gain acceptance in the
global marketplace. Twenty-six countries now recognize the Common
Criteria as third-party evaluation criteria for IT security
procedures. (Logo:
