On the Beach Group said a top U.K. court ruled in favor of its application for a summary judgment against Ryanair over refunds paid to customers, and that it has been awarded around 2 million pounds ($2.4 million).

The U.K. online holiday retailer said Tuesday that the refunds are related to money it paid to customers after the Irish low-cost airline canceled flights or made changes to them during the coronavirus pandemic.

The company said the High Court of Justice found that Ryanair was obliged to refund the money to On the Beach.

On the Beach said it will also be claiming for costs incurred due to the proceedings. It said it will take steps to recover cash refunds made to customers in those circumstances in which Ryanair hasn't yet provided a refund.

Ryanair said it welcomed the ruling and that online travel agencies must demonstrate that they have paid flight-refunds to consumers before the airline reimburses any money to them.

OTB shares at 1312 GMT were up 2.20 pence, or 2.3%, at 96.50 pence.
