Cingular Wireless Increases Wireless Coverage in Coastal Georgia

More than 36 new cell sites added to the network since January
ATLANTA, Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Cingular Wireless continues to
expand its Coastal Georgia network which spans into parts of the
South Carolina coast including Aiken, Hilton Head and Beaufort.
Today the company announced that it has activated 36 new cell sites
in the Coastal Georgia area since the beginning of 2006 to increase
wireless coverage and system capacity. The new sites are part of
the nearly $165 million network investment statewide planned this
year, which in addition to the new cell sites includes more than
100 permanent generators, added network capacity, and roll-out of
its high-speed 3G network in Atlanta. So far this year, Cingular
has activated 116 new cell sites in Georgia. "Providing our
customers across these growing south and coastal communities of the
state with high quality wireless coverage and service is our top
priority," said Cliff Minor, vice president and general manager for
Cingular's Georgia market. "Our efforts this year are focused on
strengthening and building out our network in the areas and travel
corridors that are important to our customers." The 36 new cell
sites activated along the coast this year have led to service
improvements in these areas: Glynn County-Two sites added *
Residential areas around Demere Street & Kings Way, near the
foot of the causeway on St. Simon's Island. * To US25 in Brunswick
near Reynolds and N St in Brunswick Bryan County-One site added *
In the city of Groveland and connecting coverage from Pembroke to
Claxton. Bulloch County-Three sites added * Residential and outdoor
coverage in Mill Creek Park and "Splash in the Boro" Water Park. *
Residential areas in Hunters Point on the northwest side of
Statesboro. Beaufort County and Jasper County-Two sites added *
Residential areas to north end of Buckwalter Parkway in Bluffton. *
On GA Hwy 170 between Savannah and Bluffton in Hardeeville. Aiken
County and Barnwell County-Six sites added * US 78 highway through
White Pond, SC. * Cedar Creek residential area southeast side of
Aiken. * Gem Lakes residential area on the south side of Aiken. *
Residential and highway coverage to Williston and US 78. * US 78
highway coverage through Windsor. * Residential and highway
coverage to Montmorenci and US 78. Montgomery County and Toombs
County-Eight sites added * In Mount Vernon near Peach Lane and
Thompson Road. * In Uvalda near Simpson Street. * In Ailey South of
Sawmill Road. * In city of Lyons, south of Green Oak Road and North
of Hwy 56. Chatham County-Two sites added * Residential areas in
Savannah near Daffin Park. * Suburban and highway areas around
I-16/I-516 interchange in Savannah. Camden County-Nine sites added
* New coverage to Elliott's Bluff area on the north side of St.
Mary's. * Along I-95 in Camden County and to Kings Bay. * In St.
Mary's and on the Kings Bay Naval Base. * New coverage to I-95 and
US-17 connecting the Camden County to Brunswick. * To Sanctuary
Point golf community off Dover Bluff Road. Cingular network
technicians constantly monitor performance and conduct routine
drive and walk tests to ensure the effectiveness of its
enhancements. Cingular estimates -- through these programs and
other initiatives -- it will drive test its network nearly 30
million miles - the equivalent of 50 round trips to the moon. About
