ExxonMobil is committing an additional $5 million in direct
contributions to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, bringing total
contributions to more than $7 million. "Many ExxonMobil employees
and families have been impacted by this terrible disaster, the full
extent of which is still being assessed," said Lee Raymond,
chairman and CEO of Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM). "Our hope
is that this additional funding will bring needed relief to the
families and their loved ones in communities facing unprecedented
challenges in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina." Communities that
have opened their arms to assist in relief efforts will receive $5
million in grants through local and national agencies working in
those cities. On August 30, ExxonMobil immediately committed $2
million to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund as well as
in-kind assistance to government agencies in the form of fuel and
lubricants. For employees impacted by the hurricane, ExxonMobil has
established an assistance program which includes interest-free
emergency loans, advances in salary, paid time off to attend to
personal needs, and access to temporary transportation assistance.
Employees should call the toll-free assistance line (877-294-8617)
or their immediate supervisor for additional information.
