ExxonMobil Corp.'s 584,000 b/d Baytown, Texas, refinery experienced an operational issue on Thursday, a company official told OPIS.

"We had an operational issue with one of our units at the Baytown complex and are working to resolve it," a spokesman said. "There is minimal impact to production, and we expect to meet our contractual commitments."

Multiple sources told OPIS the facility's 90,000 b/d fluid catalytic cracker was experiencing problems.

Reports of the issue strengthened U.S. Gulf Coast CBOB differentials Thursday afternoon. After Cycle 36 supplies reportedly traded at a 33.5ct discount to the NYMEX July RBOB contract in the morning session, a later deal was reported at 31cts below the screen. Implied prices were up about 10cts to $2.3408/gal at about 1:55 p.m. ET.
