German September new car registration growth slowed from August, but rose 8.1% from a year earlier, boosted by new company car registrations, the German international vehicle manufacturing association VDIK said.

MAIN FACTS:

-A total of 280,800 new cars were registered in September.

-Private car registrations were up 5% on year in September, while company car registrations rose 15%.

-In the January to September period, the number of new car registrations rose 11% to more than 2.4 million compared to the same period in 2010.

-In August, new car registrations were up 18.3% from the year-earlier month.
