Naspers Ltd. said Tuesday that a press report that claims a Citic-lead group is in talks to buy all the Tencent Holdings Ltd. shares owned by the group is speculative and untrue.

The South African company said its open-ended share repurchase program continues and reiterated its confidence in Tencent's long-term prospects.

It added that it continues to believe the share repurchase program is in the best interests of Prosus, Naspers and shareholders.
