               BEA - Distrigas exercises option to buy 49% of LNG-vessel

The Belgian company Distrigas (subsidiary of Tractebel) has exercised an option
to buy a 49% share in the first of two LNG-vessels that Bergesen earlier this
year has contracted at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd, Korea.

The vessel will be owned by a joint partnership between Bergesen and Distrigas,
which allows for further co-operation between Bergesen and the Tractebel group,
being a major player in the Atlantic LNG-trade.

Bergesen will record a sales profit of about USD 2 mill from this transaction,
in the fourth quarter of 2000.

The vessel which will have a capacity of 138,000 cbm and will be delivered in
the first quarter of 2003, has been employed for minimum 20 years from delivery,
to Tractebel's American subsidiary Cabot LNG.
