                    TRACTEBEL DOES NOT EXERCISE OPTION

Primo June 2001, Bergesen entered into a charter contract for the second 
LNG-carrier which the company has ordered at Daewoo, with Cabot LNG, LCC. The
charter contract has a minimum 20 year duration from delivery in 2003.

In connection with the charter contract, Bergesen offered Cabot's parent
company, Tractebel, an option to participate with a 49% ownership share in the
vessel.

Tractebel has now confirmed that they will not exercise this option.
Accordingly, Bergesen will own 100% of this vessel.

Tractebel has earlier exercised an option to participate with a 49% ownership
share in the first LNG-carrier Bergesen has ordered at Daewoo.
