Japanese Division of Global Pharmaceutical Giant Speeds Integration
of Daily Sales Data by 50 Percent With Informatica PowerCenter
TOKYO, Oct. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Informatica Corporation
(NASDAQ: INFA), a leading provider of data integration software,
today announced that Pfizer Japan has successfully implemented the
Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform to power its
enterprise-wide sales and field-activity data warehouse. Replacing
a hand-coded development effort with PowerCenter software, Pfizer
Japan can now more accurately track the activities of its
pharmaceutical representatives and enhance their productivity,
while substantially reducing business intelligence overhead and
costs. "Using PowerCenter, we have reduced data integration
processing times by 50 percent, which gives us more timely
information for strategic analysis and enables us to handle higher
volumes of complex data," said Toru Endo, director of information
management group at Pfizer Japan's business technology division.
"Informatica PowerCenter is providing us with ensured quality and
faster time-to-insight when tracking and analyzing our sales
performance." In production since August, Pfizer Japan's
PowerCenter implementation currently processes more than three
million daily transactions as it transforms and integrates sales
data from wholesalers and other entities across Japan. Prior to
PowerCenter, Pfizer Japan depended on the individual skills of
developers to maintain the quality of its data integration
processes. PowerCenter provides the company with an infrastructure
for ensuring quality and maintainability, including a single
repository for managing metadata. "Pfizer is a leading
pharmaceutical company, with many of the world's best-known
brands," said Takemi Hojo, country manager and representative
director in Japan for Informatica. "We're pleased the company is
expanding its global adoption of PowerCenter, with Pfizer Japan
leveraging PowerCenter as its data integration platform of choice."
Pfizer Japan's parent company, Pfizer Inc., has also implemented
PowerCenter for data integration and movement across other global
operations. Pfizer's research and development division has
successfully deployed an enterprise-wide data warehouse for
strategic sourcing analysis and financial consolidation using
PowerCenter, leading to decreased global procurement costs and
greater financial controls across the division. PowerCenter also
provides the technology infrastructure for Pfizer's enterprise
Integration Competency Center (ICC) located in San Diego, Calif.,
which helps accelerate the time-to-value and ensure the quality of
new integration projects across the global organization. About
