together this week, Feb. 22-27, for community outreach and
innovation activities in celebration of Engineers Week. Northrop
Grumman is a longtime supporter of the annual weeklong national
event, which celebrates engineering with kids, educators and
parents and promotes engineering careers by increasing public
dialogue and awareness.
Northrop Grumman's science, technology, engineering and math
(STEM) outreach programs will be in full swing at the company's
facilities across the nation. Entertaining and career-inspiring
activities and competitions will include:
- Student tours of Northrop Grumman engineering facilities.
Future generations of engineers will participate in hands-on
learning activities and discover exciting engineering career
opportunities.
- "Grow a Bridge" competitions where teams test their skills in
designing, building and demonstrating the strength of freestanding
bridges "grown" from 3D printing and additive manufacturing
designed to withstand extreme payloads.
- "Egg-cellent Landing" challenges showcasing unique devices
designed to land delicate eggs safely to the ground from heights
above 30 ft.
- More than 100 high school students will be introduced to the
world of STEM through various activities involving trebuchets, snap

- "Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day" is an international
movement focused on raising awareness of opportunities for females
to get involved and celebrate engineering. Northrop Grumman
engineers will share their stories with young women on how teamwork
and creativity make amazing things possible.
- Engineers will also join students in building devices that
demonstrate the many ways circuitry is used in engineering. And
potential energy vehicles will be built to compete for speed and
distance traveled.

unique knowledge sharing opportunities.
