MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- QinetiQ North
America (QNA) announced today it was awarded two task orders for
Oil Spill Claim Support Services and Data Migration and
Documentation Services under the Contractor Technical and
Administrative Support Services contract at the United States Coast
Guard (USCG) National Pollution Funds Center (NPFC). These are the
first task orders awarded on the contract, which is a five-year
blanket purchase agreement with a total ceiling value of
$27 million.
Under the new task orders, QNA will provide the USCG with surge
support services for reviewing and processing oil spill claims made
against the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund (OSLTF), which is
managed by the USCG. Under the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA),
responsible parties are liable for removal costs and damages
resulting from the discharge of oil into or upon the navigable
water, adjoining shorelines or the exclusive economic zone of
the United States. The OSLTF is
available to pay claims for uncompensated damages pursuant to the
law and accompanying federal regulations. Additionally, QNA will be
providing Data Migration and Documentation services for oil spill
claims in order to properly archive claims and better facilitate
the NPFC's movement toward electronic records.
QNA will build on its long standing partnership with the USCG to
provide support to the NPFC. Services are anticipated to include
expert claims review, project management, accounting and financial
support, as well as other technical services.
"QinetiQ North America is excited to expand our mission support
in the areas of claims processing to the Coast Guard," said
John Sutton, executive vice
president and general manager of QinetiQ North America's Mission
and Information Solutions business unit.
