Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG.T) on Monday said it named Jody Kuzenko chief operating officer, effective Oct. 29.

The Toronto gold producer said Ms. Kuzenko succeeds Jason Simpson, who is leaving for a CEO role within the industry but will remain for a transition period until Nov. 9.

Torex said Ms. Kuzenko was most recently director of business strategy for Vale S.A.'s (VALE) Ontario operations.
