Colorado Springs is Frontier's Second Colorado Market and the First
of Four New Colorado Destinations for Frontier DENVER, April 15
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- At exactly 8:35 a.m. MDT this morning,
Frontier Airlines (NASDAQ:FRNT) inaugurated the first flight to its
newest market, Colorado Springs. The flight was received in
Colorado Springs at 9:14 a.m. MT with water cannons and tremendous
fanfare as Colorado Springs entered a new era of affordable fare
travel. Colorado Springs is the first of several new regional
markets Frontier announced in February, all of which are
shorter-haul markets, better suited to leveraging the economics of
the 74-seat Bombardier Q400. A fleet of ten Q400 aircraft are
operated for Frontier by Frontier Airlines Holdings, Inc.
subsidiary, Lynx Aviation. In addition to the new Colorado Springs
service, Frontier will utilize its new fleet of Q400 aircraft to
serve three more Colorado markets with nonstop, daily service from
Denver: -- Durango-La Plata County Airport (DRO), Durango, CO
beginning April 22, 2008 -- Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE),
Aspen, CO beginning April 26, 2008 -- Walker Field Airport (GJT),
Grand Junction, CO beginning May 1, 2008 The quiet, fuel-efficient
and technologically-advanced Q400 aircraft are ideal for flying
into smaller markets and allow Frontier to bring its
industry-leading customer service to underserved markets
unreachable with its larger aircraft. Frontier's new service is
expected to reduce the average fare in many of the new markets by
as much as 50%. "The citizens of Colorado Springs prefer the ease
and convenience of their hometown airport, but they also want
access to Frontier's friendly, low-fare service," said Colorado
Springs Mayor Lionel Rivera. "Frontier's new Colorado Springs
service will give us the best of both worlds." "With its dynamic
growth and diverse business and leisure interests, Colorado Springs
has long been a destination that was at the top of our list for
intra-Colorado expansion," said Frontier President and CEO Sean
Menke. "However, prior to the growth of our new fleet of Q400
aircraft we didn't have the right aircraft to make Colorado Springs
service a reality. We are proud to say that with the start of
today's service we now offer our unmatched customer service and
great fares in the two largest cities in Colorado, and we look
forward to our upcoming launches to several more of Colorado's top
destinations. Thank you to all the Frontier and Lynx and employees
who have worked so hard to make today's launch of service to
Colorado Springs a success." More Mountains, More Cities In
addition to the expansion in its home state of Colorado, Frontier
also announced several new non-stops to other Rocky Mountain and
regional destinations from Denver including: -- Hector
International Airport (FAR), Fargo, ND starting May 12, 2008 --
Jackson Hole Airport (JAC), Jackson, WY starting May 15, 2008 --
Missoula International Airport (MSO), Missoula, MT starting May 16,
2008 -- Gallatin Field Airport (BZN), Bozeman, MT starting May 22,
