The following table lists unplanned and planned production
outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said March 7 that a contract worker
died the night before and another was being treated for injuries
following an accident at the St. Charles refinery located in Norco,
La. The incident took place at the fluid catalytic cracking unit,
or FCCU, that was shut at the time. Other refining operations
continue.
Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) said March 7 that maintenance activity
is underway at its 78,000-barrel-a-da7 oil refinery in Canton,
Ohio.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) reported flaring at its Torrance,
Calif., refinery from the unplanned shutdown of an unidentified
unit March 7.
Chevron Corp. (CVX) reported that flaring activity will take
place at its El Segundo, Calif., refinery on March 8-10, according
to a filing with state environmental regulators on March 6.
Tesoro Corp. (TSO) completed the restart of an unidentified
process unit at its Wilmington, Calif., refinery after completing
regular maintenance, a company spokesman said March 3.
Western Refining (WNR) is running its two major refineries at
full capacity as the company tries to capitalize on current
discounted prices for its crude supply and make up for operational
outages earlier this year, the company said March 3.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) reported emissions on March 1 at its
348,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Beaumont, Texas, caused by a crack
in process equipment, according to a government filing made public
the following day.
WRB Refining LLC reported an upset at fluid catalytic cracker
unit No. 29, a key gasoline-making unit, at its Borger, Texas,
refinery on March 2, according to a filing with state environmental
regulators. WRB is a joint venture between ConocoPhillips (COP) and
Cenovus Energy Inc. (CVE).
Magellan Midstream Partners (MMP) restarted on Feb. 28 a
products pipeline that had been shut in after it leaked an
estimated 6,000 barrels of gasoline last week. The 18-inch diameter
pipeline carries refined products from Texas City to Pasedena,
Texas, 40 miles away.
