-- QinetiQ North America (QNA) today announced the
appointment of Dr. Mark Hewitt as
executive vice president and chief strategy officer. Hewitt joined
QNA in January 2010 as senior vice
president for strategy in the QNA Technology Solutions Group. He
then led the Maritime and Transportation division and served as
executive vice president for operations and strategic
development.
Prior to joining QNA, Hewitt led defense and intelligence
programs at the Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National
Laboratory. Prior to this he was a visiting scholar at George Washington University's Center for
International Science and Technology Policy. His government service
includes leadership in the Defense Department where he served as
deputy assistant secretary of defense for continuity and crisis
management and at the Federal Bureau of Investigation where he led
an interagency cyber intelligence unit.
In his role as EVP and Chief Strategy Officer, Hewitt will lead
strategy formulation, corporate development and strategic
investments. He will also oversee business development activities
and will lead QNA defense and commercial innovation programs.

Hewitt holds a B.S. in political science from the University of Utah, an M.S. in defense and
strategic studies from Missouri State University, and a Ph.D. in
public policy from George Washington
University.
