10m OTTAWA, June 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Orezone Resources Inc.
(OZN:TSX, AMEX) is pleased to announce results from 16 RC holes
which targeted the RZ discovery on the Company's Sega Project in
Burkina Faso, West Africa. A total of 1,520m of drilling was
completed to investigate gold mineralization to a depth of 60m on
five sections. Hole RZC041 intersected 19.3 g/t over 13m, Hole
RZC042 intersected 11.1 g/t over 9m, Hole RZC045 intersected 12.1
g/t over 10m and Hole RZC047 intersected 5.0 g/t over 20m.
Potentially economic widths and grades were intersected on all five
sections drilled. The 100 per cent owned Sega Project has an
inferred resource of 3.3 Mt grading 2.82 g/t (300,000 contained
ounces of gold) in the Gambo Zone. The current drilling program was
designed to follow up two discovery holes in the RZ Zone, one
kilometre north of Gambo, where hole BKC038 had intersected 18 g/t
over 14m and Hole BKC036 had intersected 9.4 g/t over 15m.
Additional drilling is also planned for Bakou, one kilometre
northeast of Gambo, where past drilling has already outlined a zone
of mineralization which included intersections of 2.1 g/t over 34m
and 3.4 g/t over 28m. Resources on Sega have not yet been updated
to include these discoveries by Orezone. Orezone's goal is to build
Sega towards one million ounces of open-pittable material by
combining the Gambo, Bakou and RZ zones. IAMGOLD holds a three per
cent net smelter royalty which can be reduced to one per cent
through a US$ 2 M cash payment once a production decision is made.
Ron Little, President and CEO, stated that "We are extremely
pleased to have a third advanced project yield these kind of
results. When combined with our recent successes on the Essakan
Project with the Falagountou discovery and the identification of an
extension to the high grade core in the Main Zone, and continued
infill drilling and extensions to the Bondi Project, we have
exceeded our most optimistic expectations. Normally activity begins
to decrease at this time of the year for the July to September wet
season but we intend to continue right through." He added that
"drilling at Sega will focus on continuing to extend the RZ
discovery and on extending and infilling the Bakou Zone where an
initial resource calculation will be completed as soon as possible.
This will likely be in the fourth quarter. Our objective is to
bring these discoveries into resources as rapidly and as
efficiently as possible in order to get a proper valuation for all
of the ounces that are being discovered". Complete Table of Drill
