                    Pipex Communications plc (the "Company")


The company has made application for a total of 4,444,443 new ordinary shares of
1p to be admitted to the Alternative Investment Market ("AIM") following an
exercise of options from the company's Employee Share Option Scheme and rank
pari passu with the existing Ordinary 1p shares.

Admission of the New Shares to AIM is expected to become effective at 8.00 am on
24 December 2003.
