Executives from all three will discuss their game plans for good
decision-making in a unique, free Webinar hosted by the BPM Forum
PALO ALTO, Calif., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Good decision-making is
clearly a critical business differentiator. In a business
environment driven by market globalization and data overload,
decisions are more complex, faster and have greater cost
implications than ever before. Yet the process is seldom analyzed
and almost never enhanced by learning from mistakes and developing
best practices. That's the thinking behind "Business Traction From
Better Decision Action," the new study from the DecisionROI
Institute, a special interest group created by the Business
Performance Management Forum(TM) (BPM Forum) that seeks to help
improve decision-making in large enterprises. The effort is
underwritten by Cognos, a world leader in business intelligence
(BI) and performance management solutions for the enterprise. On
Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at 2pm EST the Decision ROI Institute
and the BPM Forum will host a complimentary live Webinar discussion
between four senior executives from diverse organizations. Each
participant offers a unique approach to the dynamics of
decision-making. The discussion will also be open to participation
from attendees. The panelists are: -- Pat Donahoe, Deputy
Postmaster General and COO, US Postal Service -- Glenn Thomas,
Chief Marketing Officer, GE Commercial Finance -- Lee Stacey,
Senior VP, New York Jets Football Club -- Dave Laverty, Senior VP
and Chief Marketing Officer, Cognos (moderator) (NASDAQ:COGN) To

ref=cognos "The diversity of experience that these executives bring
to the forum -- large-scale logistics management, sports marketing,
financial services, business intelligence -- will create a
spirited, thought-provoking and dynamic look at the forces and
factors that shape decisions at the senior most levels," said
Donovan Neale-May, executive director of the BPM Forum. "Our
research so far indicates that there are some glaring disconnects
in this area -- respected corporations make bad decisions for bad
reasons more often than most people realize, and the effects ripple
throughout the enterprise. Given the caliber and experience of our
panel participants, we expect the webinar will offer real-world
recommendations for decision-making improvement." Preliminary
results from the study's survey clearly yield startling
revelations: Less than 40 percent of senior decision-makers say
they had high confidence in their companies' decision-making
process, while 20 percent say the process is 'lacking' or that they
have no confidence in it. Overall, a large majority of respondents
say that poor decision-making has had a 'significant' to
'degrading' impact on performance and economics. The study is now
in its second phase, which includes a quantitative survey of
executives from across the business landscape. To take the survey,
