Autonomy Named to 21st Annual Software 500 Software Magazine Ranks
Autonomy as One of the World's Largest Software Companies for the
Fourth Consecutive Year SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 6
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Autonomy Corporation plc , a global
leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today
announced its inclusion in the Software 500, Software Magazine's
list of the world's foremost software and services providers,
published as an online catalog on http://www.softwaremag.com/.
Autonomy was ranked No. 243, with software revenue of $51 million.
"Autonomy has a proven record of technological leadership and
innovation. This, combined with our experienced executive team, has
helped us succeed in this tough economic climate," said Mike Lynch,
CEO and co-founder, Autonomy. "Having completed 15 consecutive
quarters of profitability, we are honored to be recognized for our
continued success in Software Magazine's ranking of the largest
technology companies for the fourth year in a row." "IT spending
continued to be slow through the period measured by the 2003
Software 500. While the list has changed substantially, with
additions and deletions, certain niches paid off," says John
Desmond, Softwaremag.com's editorial director and publisher. "It
was a year for IT professionals to try to salvage ROI from past
software and service investments they had made, since big new
projects were out of favor. Our online catalog to enterprise
software helps CIOs, senior IT managers and IT staff research their
partner options. That's a valuable service." Throughout 2003,
Autonomy's technology and division products have been recognized
with numerous awards, including: -- Ranking in the eContent 100,
the annual list of the companies that matter most in the digital
content industry. -- KM World named Autonomy as one of the top 100
companies that matter in knowledge management, and Aungate, a
division of Autonomy, focused on electronic communications
management for regulatory compliance in the enterprise, as a
"Trend-Setting Product of 2003." -- Audentify, a division of
Autonomy specializing in call center solutions, was named 2003
"Product of the Year" by Customer Inter@ction Solutions(R) magazine
and "Most Innovative Product of the Year" at the 2003 Nabarro
Nathansan Technology Industry Awards. -- Autonomy's Collaboration
and Expertise Networks (CEN) product was named "Product of the
Year" at the prestigious UK Information Management 2003 awards. The
Software 500 is a revenue-based ranking of the world's largest
software and services suppliers targeting enterprise IT
organizations. The list includes both private and public companies;
32 percent of the 2003 Software 500 companies are private. The
ranking is based on total worldwide software and service revenue
for 2002. This includes revenue from software licenses, maintenance
and support, training and software-related services and consulting.
Suppliers are not ranked on their total corporate revenue, since
many have other lines of business, such as hardware. The financial
information was gathered by a survey prepared by King Content Co.
and posted at http://www.softwaremag.com/, as well as from public
documents. About Softwaremag.com, The IT Software Journal
