CA Offers Extended Live Trial of Disaster Recovery Software to Companies in Hurricane-Prone States

Business Wire
CA (NASDAQ: CA) today announced an extended live trial of its CA
XOsoft disaster recovery (DR) software to help U.S. companies with
data centers in hurricane-vulnerable states protect critical
business information. CAs disaster recovery solutions have already
protected many companies in areas hard hit by the recent onslaught
of dangerous storms. The extended trial, offered until October
15th, can be used for the balance of the hurricane season, until
December 1st. Louisiana Supreme Court (LASC) successfully leveraged
CA XOsoft High Availability software to switch operations from
their data center to a DR hot site during hurricane Gustav. Despite
the storm prompting a state-wide evacuation in Louisiana,
threatening LSCs headquarters, causing massive power outages and
forcing a court shut-down, they were able to provide continuous
service and protect vital data. It is critical that we protect our
case information and keep communications open during an emergency
in order to keep the court system running, said Peter Haas,
director of technology for Louisiana Supreme Court. With our DR
plan, driven by CAs High Availability software, we didnt loose
any court data, a single email or the ability to communicate at any
point during Gustav. Additional customers have had similar
successes in storm-battered areas such as Florida and Texas during
hurricanes Fey, Dolly, Hanna and Ike. Recently, the people at UTB
needed to execute the strategy as heavy gales and rain associated
with Hurricane Dolly began to slam the campus in Brownsville,
wrote Jon Toigo, CEO of Toigo Partners International, 25 year
veteran disaster recovery planner and author of five books on
disaster recovery planning. The XOsoft solution performed, in a
word, flawlessly. This has been a tough hurricane season, and
with two more months to go, customers without DR software are
looking for a way to implement protection fast, said Frank
Jablonski, senior director, product marketing for Recovery
Management at CA. Thats why we are offering a free, extended
trialto provide them with a fast, easy way to implement a solution
now because they dont have to go through their procurement process
and CA XOsoft doesnt require any planned downtime to install.
During the extended trial, customers can also leverage another
important component of CAs DR solution, CAs DR testing option,
which verifies the functionality of the replicated data without
impacting business operations or placing the data at risk. Current
customers use this distinctive capability to ensure their DR plan
will work before a disaster actually strikes. We cant afford to
lose critical business data or shut down operations in the event of
an unplanned outage or catastrophic event, said Martin Silverman,
director, IT at EvensonBest, LLC, a NYC-based furniture
distributor. We use CA XOsoft High Availability to ensure business
continuity and point-in-time recovery if our main facility goes
dark, and the DR testing option to ensure our strategy will work
instead of finding out when its too late. Companies with offices
in eligible states can sign up for the standard 14-day trial and
then call 1-800-576-9727 by October 15th to get the extension. They
can call the same toll-free number for more information on the
offer. About CA XOsoft CA XOsoft Replication and CA XOsoft High
