BellSouth and SBC Begin Next Phase of Review Related to Cingular's Acquisition of AT&T Wireless ATLANTA and SAN ANTONIO, April 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BellSouth and SBC , the owners of Cingular Wireless LLC, announced today the beginning of the next phase of antitrust review related to Cingular's acquisition of AT&T Wireless. BellSouth and SBC have each received from the Department of Justice a Request for Additional Information. Both companies anticipated that the Department of Justice would issue this information request given the size and nature of the transaction. We intend to continue to cooperate fully with the Department of Justice. The merger of Cingular and AT&T Wireless is still expected to be completed in the 4th quarter of 2004.
