--Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) is considering leaving the British North Sea, and has spoken to a number of operators in the region to sell its assets there, reports Reuters citing industry sources.

--The media company names Chrysaor or Neptune, large private-equity backed producers, as potential buyers for the assets which could be worth up to $2 billion.

--It adds that should Exxon not find a buyer, it may appoint a bank to administer a formal sale process.

--Exxon declined to comment.
