New Capabilities Enable Lean IT by Strengthening Transaction Visibility for Proactive Problem Avoidance, Accelerated Problem Resolution and Increased Operational Efficiency ISLANDIA, N.Y., April 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CA, Inc. (NASDAQ:CA) today announced a new version of its market-leading* CA Wily Application Performance Management (APM) solution, used by more than 1200 customers worldwide for real-time monitoring of over five billion transactions a day in the most demanding, mission critical IT environments. The solution includes new features that improve visibility and control over revenue-generating Web applications, and is one of 13 new and enhanced products announced today by CA that help CIOs achieve Lean IT by reducing waste, increasing productivity and improving the customer experience. (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20090427/NY05252 ) The new version of CA Wily APM, which includes CA Wily Introscope(R) and CA Wily Customer Experience Manager(TM), provides greater insight into transactions as they cross complex, heterogeneous platforms and middleware layers in large environments. A visual map provides easy-to-understand views of transactions, greatly simplifying problem identification, and helps avoid many issues altogether. Extensive transaction tracing across platforms and Real-Time Transaction Monitoring (RTTM) provides IT operations and business process owners with greater visibility into the actual end-user experience as the transaction is executing. This real-time insight enables the business to more effectively manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and helps ensure high-value transactions receive the highest possible priority. "CA Wily APM helps large organizations with highly complex and distributed infrastructures maximize revenue by monitoring the performance and availability of key Web applications," said Chris Cook, corporate senior vice president and general manager of CA's Application Performance Management business unit. "This release provides even broader end-to-end visibility of transactions, enabling customers to more readily address issues before they affect end-user service quality." "We've had much success using CA Wily Introscope to assure the availability of key applications," said Todd Parson, lead IT system analyst, Business Process Management Infrastructure, Principal Financial Group. "We were very involved in the development and Beta process for CA Wily Introscope 8.1 and received the opportunity to provide our input and direction. We're looking forward to using the new SOA visualization and heterogeneous SOA triage and diagnostics features to manage our IBM(R) WebSphere(R) Process Server environment and other SOA initiatives." Key New Features of CA Wily APM The following new features of CA Wily APM help deliver the agility IT organizations require to adapt to both evolving application infrastructure environments and new business processes. -- Business-Centric Measurement: Custom business dashboards show real-time health of an application, including how end-user service quality is impacting the bottom line. This provides customers deeper insight into how end-user satisfaction is affecting the business. -- Enhanced Visualization and Triage of SOA Transactions: New graphical visualization capabilities automatically show dependencies of services within an SOA environment. A real-time SOA dashboard shows health check information, enabling Application Support Managers to grasp complex environments in a visual manner to improve problem triage and resolution processes. -- Enhanced MQ Support: Increased visibility for MQ environments enables customers to rapidly understand how MQ performance impacts the application. This enables customers to quickly identify and solve performance problems that are caused by MQ from Servlet all the way to the Queue Manager, extending cross-process transaction tracing to critical MQ components. The solution also monitors MQ over customers' secure channels. This extends MQ monitoring to environments where customers have limited access to the MQ system for security reasons. -- Visibility into More Application Environments: New functionality enables transaction monitoring for even more infrastructure components by providing visibility into: -- SOA middleware platforms like Oracle(R) Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and IBM WebSphere Process Server -- Databases through CA Insight(TM) Database Performance Monitor for Distributed Databases -- Citrix and Oracle(R) Forms through integration with CA eHealth(R) Performance Manager "Given high expectations for 24x7 access and fast response, the complex environments that support revenue-generating applications must be proactively managed to ensure service levels are consistently met and maintained," said Will Cappelli, research vice president, Gartner, Inc. "This requires the greatest possible transaction visibility across today's complex infrastructures and services." CA Services has launched two new Application Performance Management services offerings to support the CA Wily Application Performance Management solution.
