NCAA Basketball(R) Fans Can Now Become Wireless Commentators
'Cingular Fan in the Stands' Program on CBS Sports Encourages Fans
to Vote for 'Keys to the Game' from their Wireless Phones; Chance
to Win Camera Phones and Trips to NCAA Basketball(R) Games ATLANTA,
Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Cingular Wireless today announced it is
teaming up with CBS Sports to offer a wireless interactive feature
that allows NCAA Basketball fans to share their opinions with CBS
Sports game announcers during select regular season NCAA Division I
men's and women's basketball games. The program was designed to
encourage wireless interactivity while creating awareness of
Multimedia Messaging, the service that allows camera- phone
customers to snap photos, add a voice and/or text. The program,
called "Cingular Fan in the Stands" will begin prior to tip- off.
Viewers will see a Cingular camera phone pan the crowd and capture
a fan that will ask CBS Sports game analysts what the keys are to
the game. The analysts will then discuss their three "keys to the
game." Fans who are Cingular customers will be encouraged to text
message which of the three "keys" they believe to be most
important. Here's how: 1. Access menu on phone and select "text
message" feature 2. Enter "A," "B," or "C" to register your vote.
3. Key in number provided on the screen and press "send." The votes
will be tallied in real time and during the "Cingular AT THE
HALF(R)" halftime report, the CBS Sports studio announcer will
announce the results of viewers' votes and provide his own
commentary. Participating fans will be entered to win a Multimedia
Messaging-capable phone or a trip to a CBS Sports NCAA Basketball
regular-season game of their choice. "Whether courtside or on their
couches at home, fans can now take an active role in the discussion
of the game through wireless text messaging," said Daryl Evans,
vice president of advertising and marketing communications for
Cingular Wireless. "Cingular is excited to begin the fourth season
working with CBS Sports as sponsor of 'Cingular AT THE HALF.' Each
year, we find new ways to engage viewers and encourage them to use
their Cingular phones to express their passion for and opinions of
NCAA Basketball. This year, they'll be trying out the next
generation of messaging that combines photos, voice and text."
